Current lineup

Abe Cohen - Guitar, vocals - The bad boy, always has to rebel. Looks great in leather.

Mateo Bevington - Guitar, vocals - The artsy one, likes to wear hats. Brings new meaning to the word "shred."

Chris Beuhler - Bass, vocals - The quiet one and best dressed. Irrestible with facial hair.

Marian Hammond - Keyboards - The smart one, very political. Behind the scenes leader (will deny it).

Loran Joseph - Percussion - The hot one. Got the position on looks and nepotism, not talent.

Story of the band

M

aggie's Choice has never been a band in the true sense of the word. From the humble basement beginning as Casa Del Bev in 1999, Abe and Mateo have avoided the business of selling music and instead concentrated on making the best music they can. For them this means keeping it as personal as possible; recruiting Mateo's brother Sean to play drums and Sean's friend Chris to play bass. They even went so far as to woo Chris' wife Marian to start playing keyboards with them. This approach has served them well, their 2003 self-titled debut album was released to many positive reviews both locally and nationally while opening the doors for larger and better shows. In 2004 they released a six song ep entitled "tale for free" that experimented with several different genres and again garnered many good reviews. 2005 was spent recording slowly but steadily in Chris and Marian's basement, crafting a creative and cohesive full album "thoughts of june," that was released in early 2006 to rave reviews. Unfortunately, 2006 also saw Sean take a sabbatical from the band and move to London with his wife. Keeping with the intimate style of the group, Abe asked his brother-in-law Loran to sit in while Sean was away. They have yet to miss a beat...

“Each band member is an expert musician in his (or her) own right. It's easy to tell that this band is having fun doing what they do best: playing around with musical craftsmanship. ”
